Step By Step Guide for Fire TV / Fire TV Stick
NOTE: The Recent 5.0.5.1 BREAKS FIRESTARTER, The below will not work
There is now a temp fix available called firestopper for 5.0.5.1, I will post more information shortly
First you must enable ADB Debugging in settings
With ADB debugging enabled, you can remotely install (i.e., sideload) apps onto your Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, Once enabled you can keep it on all the time since it can help with any future modding or access you may need.
- From the Fire TV or Fire TV Stick’s home screen, scroll down to ‘Settings”.
- Next, scroll to the right and select “System”.
- Next, scroll down and select “Developer Options”.
- Then select “ADB debugging” to turn the option to “ON”.
Second step is to now enable Unknown Sources settings
- Goto ‘Settings’
- Then ‘System’
- And lastly ‘Developer Options’
- Enable all 3 Settings
Click OK if you see any warnings
Press back and Go into ABOUT and select NETWORK to get your I.P address.
We are now finished with the configuration part.
Install ES File Explorer from Playstore or amazon store directly.

Configuring FireStarter on Fire TV Stick or Device
Goto Settings
-> Applications
-> Managed Installed Applications
and open FireStarter.
Goto Settings and setup what you want each button to do, by default, single home click opens FireStarter and double home click opens Amazon Fire TV home. you can customize this behaviour IE double click opens Kodi/ Single click opens Amazon home etc. Finally, click on “Open ADB Settings”, turn off ADB Debugging and turn it back on again. Then reboot your Fire TV by pressing “Select” and “Play / Pause” buttons for 5 seconds.
Hope you enjoy this guide, it was taken from various links across the internet and put into a more manageable way hopefully to make it easier for you.
